In addition to the main events of the Fair, in between the events that highlight the exhibition of the experiences and the roundtables for knowledge exchange organized according to theme and the mechanism used for transference, there will also be a series of satellite events. The objective of these sessions is to broaden the South-South Cooperation debate in such a way as to more meaningfully discuss topics such as the vision of multilateral organizations, academia and think tanks that are working to identify and map good practices in SSC.
The first satellite event, titled “Academic Challenges in research and the systematization of good practices in SSC,” will take place on Wednesday, May 9th at 14:00 hours. The objective of this session is to promote dialogue and reflection about the role of academia en SSC, particularly the contributions, challenges, and opportunities offered by this partnership as well as the best way to strengthen the link between academic institutions and the International Cooperation Agencies in the region.
The following universities have been invited to participate in this session: University of the Andes and Catholic University of Chile.
The second satellite event will take place on May 10, at 12.30 and will be titled “Strengthening South-South Cooperation platforms”. The speakers will present and converse about different information systems and monitoring systems used in SSC as means to advancing and improving knowledge exchange and information gathering.
In this session the General Secretary for Ibero America, the United Nations Special Unit for South-South Cooperation and the Center for International Strategic Thinking will be the primary participants.
Finally, on Thursday, there will be another satellite event at 14:30 hours about "Contributions to strengthening SSC". In this event, the participants will analyze the different mechanisms that have been employed by multilateral organizations in support of SSC and the challenges presented by the diversity of mechanisms in the region.
The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID in Spanish), the World Bank and the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) will participate in this event.
